Most Plant Sciences faculty also hold appointments in the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES). The Agricultural Experiment Station in this sense is not a place as much as a mission. Faculty members with AES appointments in addition to their instructional and research assignments are responsible for meeting the research and teaching needs of their departments as well as conducting mission-oriented research. This carries with it an expectation of distributing research findings to appropriate audiences. For more information, please visit the Agricultural Experiment Station in the UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences page.
Nearly a third of the faculty in the Department of Plant Sciences hold full or partial appointments as Specialists in Cooperative Extension. These CE specialists conduct applied research and statewide outreach programs and contribute to the research, education, and outreach mission of the University of California.
